The materiality precept in the legal profession's rules of conduct

Article Abstract:

The law states that 'a lawyer shall not knowingly make a false statement of material fact or law to a tribunal,' but the meaning of the word 'material' is ambitious and subject to interpretation. A lawyer's interpretation of material relevance of facts to suit his needs might result in the non-disclosure of a vital piece of information. An analysis of instances of such non-disclosure of vital information reveals a time delay in the imposition of corrective measures. A complete disclosure of all facts concerning the case is essential for an unbiased verdict. Therefore, the word 'material' in Rule 3.3 must be removed.

The recurring governance crisis: director independence and the disconnect between structural reform and conduct

Article Abstract:

A double-agency framework is developed to address gaps between perspectives of the double-agency concept and organizational theory. Trends in governance reform allow little room for effective compatible governance arrangements. Governance structures that foster the plurality of different personal motives may provide behavioral change.

Reflections on consumerism in a global era

Article Abstract:

Consumerism has improved the economies, which in turn has reduced poverty considerably. This was one of the major objectives of the religion, which has been achieved by businesses. However, there is still a lot to be done by religious ministers, like building trust, and caring.
