Beyond legalism? Policy ideas, implementation styles and emulation-based convergence in Canadian and U.S. environmental policy

Article Abstract:

This article discusses U.S.-Canadian environmental policy-making, finding little proof of Canada moving toward U.S. models. However, the author finds that recent de-regulation and government reformation in the U.S. and multi-stakeholder policies in Canada have created new standards. le discusses U.S.-Canadian environmental policy-making, finding little support for theories of 'weak' Canadian policy moving towards U.S. models.

Convergence and divergence in 'New Governance' arrangements: Evidence from European integrated natural resource strategies

Article Abstract:

Two regimes in the environmentally related areas of forest and fisheries management are examined to analyze convergence and divergence in Natural Resource New Governance Arrangements (NRNGAs). The findings reveal limited convergence across sectors and countries in the general ideas and aims behind NGAs and evidence of significant policy divergence in the tools and mechanisms created for their implementation.

This article examines cycles of stability and change in United States public policies. The author focuses on power arrangements, organization and policy paradigms that maintain stability and stressors such as catastrophes, demographic changes, and shifts in modes of production that affect change.
