Issues are presented concerning the opposition of the Chinese government to prospective sales of advanced weapon systems by the US to Taiwan. Taiwanese interest in Aegis-equipped destroyers is discussed.

China has renewed its annual objections to US-Taiwan military assistance, an issue reopened each April. China's strongest objection is the sale of the Aegis combat missile system.
