Democracy efficiently at work: better government for all

Article Abstract:

Public administrative services with attendant challenges, problems and opportunities as well as suggestions for the improvement of these services are discussed. Some of the topics elaborated on include citizen participation, clean elections, management audits, government management, democratic representation, better intergovernmental relationships, cooperation between business and the government in social projects and professional administration.

Public official associations and public administration: a shared history

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the development of public official associations is presented. The analysis assumes that such organizations reflect issues concerning professionalism and intergovernmental management. It is shown that such groups can serve as a bridge by which differences in the federal system and profession can be resolved. In addition, these associations can help in theimprovement of public administration.

Competing moves in the formation of American public administration

Article Abstract:

An analysis of study orientations for American public administration is presented.The analysis focuses on 'public service' and 'public management' orientations for intellectual examination of administrative government. It is shown that both forms of orientation have coexisted despite major differences because theycomplement each other by reducing the impact of complementary weaknesses.
