Nuclear power and EU enlargement: the case of Temelin

Article Abstract:

The limits of existing environmental policy among members of European Union (EU) are illustrated by the case of Temelin nuclear power plant near Czech-Austria border. This analysis highlights EU's unusual role as moderator in a bilateral dispute between a member and non-member state.

Prospective European Union (EU) member nations must successfully comply with the challenges of fiscal, administration, environment, democratic deficit, energy, and politics. Such compliance is mandatory in order to fulfill the environmental acquis communautaire.
