Francis Fukuyama as teacher of evil

Article Abstract:

Philosopher-novelist Walker Percy's defence of the goodness and mystery of humanity can be used to highlight the misanthropic implications of biological reductionism in the writing of Francis Fukuyama. The choice between nature and history is not presented clearly by Fukuyama, who instead claims that at the end of history the reigning type of government is fully satisfying to human nature. Against his liberal intention, Fukuyama teaches evil because the people he presents in 'The Great Disruption' lack motivation and have no reason to resist evil.

Who was Francis Lieber?

Article Abstract:

Little is known about the life and works of Francis Lieber, who lived between 1798 and 1872, even though he was possibly the leading political scientist in the US in the 19th century. He was a strong intellectual force, and this allowed him to establish links with some of the leading thinkers of the day. His main interest was in the conditions that would bring about the maintenance of political liberty and the rule of law.
