Haiti's flagging transition

Article Abstract:

The political system used in Haiti has not significantly improved since the island's democratically elected president Jean-Bertrand was installed with the help of the United States government. Political analysis shows that the 1987 Constitution and economic profile of Haiti are partially responsible for preventing the progress of democratization. Fundamental changes need to be made to the electoral system before progress in democratization is possible.
