Some arguments against Congressional term limitations

Article Abstract:

Congressional term limits should not be adopted. They are unconstitutional because they add qualifications to those specified in the Constitution. They are a partisan attempt by Republicans to end Democratic control of the legislature. In addition, the statistics on turnover used to support term limits are misleading, and no evidence of voter dissatisfaction has been cited. Term limits would restrict voters' ability to select the candidate of their choice and would weaken Congress's ability to perform its function in the political system.

Term limitations: breaking up the Iron Triangle

Article Abstract:

Congressional term limits would help to curb the 'Iron Triangle' of Congress, special interest groups, and the federal bureaucracy working together within the greatly expanded government under the welfare state. Under the current system, the separation of powers is no longer functioning as the Constitution intended. Term limits would also make elections more competitive and would improve the political culture.
