Molecular innovation and molar scanning strategies for the adoption of new information technology (IT) in learning organizations

Article Abstract:

The Model Office project of the Dept. of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) in Australia provides a valuable case study on how bottom-up innovation and top-down environmental scanning strategies can be used to implement information technology (IT) solutions. The Model Office project stressed the education of users on the advantages of IT and its application in the public sector environment. It also emphasized what IT could do to aid decision-making within the DEET's organizational hierarchy. The Model Office project also stressed the importance of managerial support for innovation.
