Negotiation in public-policy making: exogenous barriers to successful dispute resolution

Article Abstract:

This article discusses negotiations in public policy conflicts, which has increased dramatically in western democracies. The author argues that conflict management procedure are dependent on exogenous factors, and uses spatial representations of bargaining; the case of environmental mediation in Germany is examined.

Explaining cross-national variance in administrative reform: autonomous versus instrumental bureaucracies

Article Abstract:

An analytical method is presented for examining the differences in administrative development patterns between countries, using data from Great Britain and Germany. This method is then used to assess reform potential.

Convergence within national diversity: The regulatory state in finance

The perspective of 'convergence within national diversity' is the outcome of global or European pressure reforms. This convergence is shown by reforms of banking regulation in the U.S., Britain and Germany.
