Washington is focused on making Iraq a democratic country by isolating the neighbor countries that is not possible. This has led to contradiction in American dealings with Iraq and surrounding countries and hence regional cooperation is must for making Iraq a stable nation.

After winning the elections, President George Bush stepped up the campaign in Iraq to clear the way for elections in January 2004. Meanwhile, the death of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat implies elections there too, thus, suiting the Bush agenda for democratisation.
