Putting the ecological modernisation thesis to the test: the promises and performances of urban recycling

It is argued that ecological theorising has the potential to bypass social equity concerns in the both the developed and the developing world. Different cultural and political histories may explain much about why ecological modernisation is present or absent across different countries.

Ecological Modernisation, environmental knowledge and national character: a preliminary analysis of the Netherlands

Article Abstract:

A typology identifying four archetypal environmental knowledge orientations is presented. These are Prometheanism, rational ecologism, ecocidal mysticism and Arcadianism.
