Public Notice No. 11 of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China issued on May 8, 2003 is reproduced. The Ministry has organized relevant specialists to formulate the standards for determination and principles for the handling of persons who have had close contact with infectious atypical pneumonia (Draft) in order to assess the degree of danger presented by the disease, and adopt corresponding measures of prevention, which are promulgated for implementation.

The Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China revised on May 3, 2003, the standards for diagnosing contagious atypical pneumonia (draft), promulgated on April 14, 2003, and formulated recommended medical treatment plan. The draft revision notice included the revised standards for clinical diagnosis, recommended medical treatment plans, reference standards for ending hospitalization, and explanations on the draft revision.

Article Abstract:
Explanations and supplements to the clinical diagnosis standards and recommended medical treatment plans for contagious atypical pneumonia are presented. Standards for medical observation and management measures were proposed and revised, and psychotherapy was added to the recommended medical treatment plans to allay patient anxiety and build up confidence in overcoming the disease.
