The myth of military aid: The case of French military cooperation in Africa

Article Abstract:

France maintains military accords with eight African countries, and military cooperation with 23 further countries, with the aim of protecting the territory of France's African allies, peacekeeping and protecting the local population. However the recent failures of French military cooperation and reform has placed it in a less favourable light. Growing internationalization of military cooperation, along with domestic budgetary and political restrictions will bring about changes in French military cooperation.
