Third tide of blood

Article Abstract:

East Timor is said to have to pass through three tides of blood before it finds some form of stability, and the third tide appears to have begun in 2006 in the form of sectarian violence that threatens to erupt into a new civil war. An account of the history of East Timor reveals that the fundamental reason for the country's problems is a lack of identity and trust among its citizens.

Diplomacy on a shoestring

Article Abstract:

The role of diplomacy in securing the independence of East Timor was vital that was led by Dr. Jose Ramos Horta. Foreign minister is facing a new challenge of building a professional foreign service and foreign policy that would embed East Timor in a web of international alliance and regional groupings so that it would never again face the threat of foreign invasion.

Secede and we destroy you

Article Abstract:

Issues of political struggle and military action in East Timor are examined in a discussion of the current economic instability in Indonesia. East Timor's decision to secede from Indonesia has been met by the destructive forces of Indonesian special police and militia forces.
