A sexual selection theory longitudinal analysis of sexual segregation and integration in early adolescence

Article Abstract:

The development of sexual integration and early dating popularity in middle school youth is documented in a study which was guided by the sexual selection theory and three associated sets of hypotheses. It was observed that changes in peer group sexual integration varied with dating popularity; that dominance related strategies worked for boys while girls preferred relational/indirect aggression; and finally rough-and-tumble play did not influence dating or integration.

Early predictors of letter knowledge

Article Abstract:

The influence of phonological memory and rapid naming on the development of letter knowledge was examined. A major finding of the study was that individual differences in nonword repetition, assumed to reflect phonological memory, had a specific effect on the acquisition of letter knowledge.
