A twin study of state and trait anxiety in childhood and adolescence

Article Abstract:

Twin studies were undertaken and one found that the measures of adolescents' self-reported trait anxiety could be best explained by shared environmental factors. The other study found that around half the variance was contributed to be genetic effects. A new study found similar conclusions to those of Topolski and colleagues and measures of state anxiety conformed closely to the findings of Thapar and McGuffin.
