A typology of parent rated child behavior for a national US sample

Article Abstract:

Well-adapted and maladapted groups of children can be found among large samples. Parents may identify internalizing problems more than teachers, who may focus more on externalizing problems, since teachers have to maintain order in class. Large scale sampling is expensive, so there are barriers to the development of a typology which is widely accepted. Clusters are a research method which can be used for child behavior studies in the US and elsewhere. Parent and teacher ratings can be collected on a routine basis in order to identify problems.
