An examination of the joint effects of affective experiences and job beliefs on job satisfaction and variations in affective experiences over time

Article Abstract:

The pleasant mood of employees is believed to be a significant contributor to job satisfaction and individual differences in affective intensity over time. This assumption was tested in an experiment in which 24 managerial workers were required to report their mood state at four different periods during the workday. It was found that affective experiences and job beliefs play important roles in overall job satisfaction and dispositional happiness. In addition, individual differences in affective intensity influenced the variability of pleasant mood over time as well as average levels of mood activation.
