Annotation: eating disorders in children

Article Abstract:

Eating disorders involve excessive, inadequate or chaotic food intake, the most common being anoresia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. The causative factors of these disorders being family dysfunction, trauma due to sexual abuse, impending puberty or other stressful events. Treatment integrates medical, psychological and family issues. Other disorders include FAED, selective eating pervasive refusal syndrome. The future search for a biological substrate should be genetically determined and intensified. Childhood dieting being prevalent, preventive issues require immediate attention.

Annotation: children as witnesses - legal and psychological perspectives

Article Abstract:

The subject of children who witness crimes and are asked to give evidence in court, faces many questions concerning their competence, the protective measures needed, corroboration of the facts and if hearsay evidence can be accepted. While different countries follow different laws, all of them aim towards a better understanding of the drawbacks in dealing with their intellectual abilities and also aim at a compassionate understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.

Annotation: Repetitive behaviour in autism: A review of psychological research

Article Abstract:

Repetitive behaviour is one of the key and defining features of autism, and a review of psychological research into repetitive behaviour in autism is provided. Its specificity to the syndrome and the mechanisms that may underlie such behaviour at the psychological level are discussed.
