Assessing activation without source monitoring in the DRM false memory paradigm

Article Abstract:

Experiments were conducted to examine whether studying a single Deese/Roediger-McDermott (DRM) list produces semantic priming for non studied critical items (CIs) and semantic + repetition priming for studied associates. The results indicate that a long-term semantic priming effect, at least from multiple primes, is replicable across a number of different procedural variations and labs and does not depend on exactly the same processing task being performed on the primes and target.

Re-examining evidence for the use of independent relational representations during conceptual combination

Article Abstract:

The conceptual combination, Estes presented the evidence for the priming of relational information in the absence of shared constituents between the prime and target. It is suggested that the relational information used in conceptual combination is tied to the constituent concepts, particularly the modifier.

Effect of discourse context and modifier relation frequency on conceptual combination

Article Abstract:

The influence of modifier relation frequency and discourse context on the interpretation of novel noun-noun phrases is examined. The modifier relation frequency strongly influenced the type of interpretation but discourse context was ineffective on interpretations.
