Brief report: A longitudinal investigation of the relation between a negative cognitive triad and depressive symptoms in youth

Article Abstract:

Self-reported depressive symptoms and associated cognitive features are examined by reporting data from a one-year longitudinal study of a community sample of 93 children and 69 adolescents. Findings reveal that in childhood a negative triad appeared to be more a consequence than a predictor of depressive symptoms after one year, whereas in adolescence, a negative view of the future was predictive of depressive symptoms after one year.

The role of developmental assets in predicting academic achievement: A longitudinal study

Article Abstract:

The relationship of opportunities, skills, values and self- perceptions to academic achievements over a time is investigated with a sample of 370 students in the 7th-9th grades followed for 3 years, using actual GPA as the key outcome variable. Results suggest that focusing on the challenge of raising a student with improvement in human relationships and human development within school community would contribute to academic success.
