Confirmatory factor analysis of the Mattis Dementia Rating Scale in patients with Alzheimer's disease

Article Abstract:

An examination of the factor structure of the standard Mattis Dementia Rating Scale (DRS) and its abridged form on Alzheimer's patients confirms the validity of the construction, conceptualization and memory subscales. The modifications of these subscales in the abbreviated DRS reflect a concurrent validity with supplementary neuropsychological measures. The DRS factor structure is greatly influenced by the diagnostic characteristics of the patient sample. While a multifactorial structure is seen in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's, severe cases may reflect only a single factor.

Revision of the Brief Visuospatial Memory Test: studies of normal performance, reliability, and validity

Article Abstract:

The Brief Visuospatial Memory Test - Revised (BVMT-R) is a reliable and valid test of nonverbal learning and memory. The relation of immediate and delayed free-recall performance on BVMT-R with age is better than that of delayed recognition with age. Sex has little influence on the test performance. The revised test is brief and provides six alternate forms. Criterion-related validity of the test justifies its use in clinical neuropsychological assessments.

Corrected estimates of WAIS-R short form reliability and standard error of measurement

Article Abstract:

The corrected reliability and standard error of measurement estimates for the complete and seven-subtest short forms of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale - Revised (WAIS-R) are given. The estimates enable accurate comparison between the short form and the complete WAIS-R. The seven-subtest short form is more reliable than other short forms, and is equal to the complete WAIS-R in utility.
