Conformity and dietary disinhibition: a test of the ego-strength model of self-regulation

Article Abstract:

This article examines how restrained and unrestrained eaters respond to conformity. The authors, applying a ego-strength model in their study, conclude that restrained and unrestrained eaters ultimately ate the same amount, with the restrained eaters depleting their reserves of ego strength in the face of conformity and breaking down to eat diet-breaking items.
