Decision support for real-time, dynamic decision-making tasks

Article Abstract:

Dynamic decision making (DDM) calls for multiple and interrelated decisions to be made in constantly changing environments. An experiment was conducted to investigate ways to support decision making in such varying environments. Three forms of decision support u outcome feedback, cognitive feedback, and feed forward that included common features of learning theories connected with dynamic tasks u were investigated, wherein participants worked in a real-time DDM task. The influence of positive affect on the decision rule in risk situations: focus on outcome (and especially avoidance of loss) rather than probability

Article Abstract:

Positive affect has a significant impact on probability estimation and choice. It can cause an overt shift from a decision rule that is focused on probabilities to one that is focused on utilities or outcome values. This is particularly true for losses. Results indicate the significant influence of positive affect on thinking and decision-making. They also show the importance of affect and emotions on decision-making under risk.
