Overt and covert sexual abuse: relationship to body image and eating disturbance

Article Abstract:

A new study investigating the relationship between overt and covert sexual abuse and body image and eating is presented. A new measure, the Covert-Overt Sexual Abuse Questionnaire, is used. The study shows that covert, emotional sexual abuse can be as harmful as overt abuse in the development of body image and eating-related disorders.

Eating problems, body image disturbances, and academic achievement: preliminary evaluation of the eating and Body Image Disturbances Academic Interference Scale

Article Abstract:

The Eating and Body Image Disturbances Academic Interference Scale is designed to assess the interference in academic achievement due to core features and symptoms of eating disturbance. The assessment revealed that higher levels of eating disorder and body dissatisfaction led to interference in academic achievement.
