Developmental surface dysgraphia: what is the underlying cognitive impairment?

Article Abstract:

This article describes research that suggests people with the ability to read well but spell poorly couple a good configurational memory with poor encoding of serial order. Experimental design to test the causes of agraphia, or dysgraphia, and a hypothesis for how reading strategy can exist with encoding order problems, are discussed.
