Do sibling and friend relationships share the same temperamental origins? A twin study

Article Abstract:

This article compares sibling and friend relationships. The authors, studying twins, conclude that negative aspects of both sibling and friend relationships were related to emotionality, friendship and sibling relationship have distinct etiological profiles, and temperament influenced relationship quality.

Empathy and response to distress in children with Down syndrome

Article Abstract:

Research shows that children with Down syndrome respond to distress in others by offering comfort and maintaining frequent visual attention, but are less likely to feel identical emotions in a hypothetical empathy situation than children without developmental disabilities.

Word reading and reading-related skills in adolescents with Williams syndrome

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between intelligence, word decoding and reading skills in adolescents with Williams syndrome. The authors, testing 20 individuals with Williams syndrome, conclude intelligence rather than language skills predicts reading achievements.
