Gender-linked personality traits predict mental health and functional status following a first coronary event

Article Abstract:

This article examines the influence of gender-linked personality traits on adjustment after a coronary event. Results indicate that patients who focused on their own needs experienced greater improvements in health and well-being while patients who focused completely on the needs of others exhibited poorer health and decreased well-being during recovery.

Posttraumatic growth following breast cancer: a controlled comparison study

Article Abstract:

This article examines factors associated with positive adjustment and posttraumatic growth among breast cancer survivors. Findings indicate that breast cancer survivors had improved interpersonal relations, life appreciation, and spiritual growth when compared to healthy controls and that posttraumatic growth was associated with income, life-threat, time since diagnosis, and talking about cancer.
