Genetic and environmental influence on language impairment in 4-year-old same-sex and opposite-sex twins

Article Abstract:

The study carried on four-year-old twins showed that language impairment at this age is heritable. The findings also indicated that despite the mean difference between boys and girls, genetic and environmental influences are quantitatively and qualitatively similar for language impairment for boys and girls.

Research review: DSM-V conduct disorder: research needs for an evidence base

Article Abstract:

Several changes to the conduct order diagnosis that have occurred since the DSM-IV appeared in 1994 are examined to decide whether there is a need to change the diagnostic protocol for CD in DSM-V. It was concluded that the new research does not justify any alteration to the DSM-V.

Genetic influences on early word recognition abilities and disabilities: A study of 7-year-old twins

Article Abstract:

The links between reading abilities and disabilities are examined by using DeFries-Fulker (DF) extremes analysis in a twin study. It addresses the issue of why some children fall at the extreme of a dimension like reading, as compared to the rest of the population.
