Impact of traumatic experiences and violent acts upon response to treatment of a sample of Colombian women with eating disorders

Article Abstract:

The impact of exposure to sexual trauma and other types of physical threats against the patient or the patient's family on response to treatment, relapse, and dropout rates in 160 Colombian women between 12 and 49 years of age with eating disorders was compared. Significant statistical differences were observed between both groups in exposure variables.

Do female college students who purge report greater alcohol use and negative alcohol-related consequences?

Article Abstract:

A study on the relationship between problematic eating behaviors and the consumption and negative consequences of alcohol use was investigated in twenty-one women. The results showed that alcohol use led to non-identical negative consequences and should be assessed in different conditions.

Handedness differences in body image distortion and eating disorder symptomatology

Article Abstract:

The relationship between handedness differences in body image distortion and eating disorder risk is examined. The results have shown that strong degrees of handedness are associated with deficits in accurate representation of body image and with increased eating disorder symptomatology.
