Article Abstract:

Norman Kelman, M.D., died 4/20/97. He was born in Connecticut, 12/18/14. He graduated from Wesleyan Univ., received an M.A. from Columbia and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He served in World War II with the rank of major in the army and treated/evaluated soldiers with battle fatigue and worked in repatriation of concentration camp survivors. He was analyzed by Horney and was part of the core group challenging aspects of the theories of Freud. His reached candidates with wisdom over the years as he served as associate dean, teacher, trustee, and training/supervising analyst.

Ted L. Rosenthal (1936-1994)

Article Abstract:

Ted Rosenthal died of cancer on July 27, 1994. A Distinguished Professor awardee, he was the most popular and dedicated mentor. His breadth of knowledge ranged beyond his chosen field. He was a gourmet cook and a grape connoisseur among other things. His ready wit and irreverence for orthodoxy added a touch of humor to his sharp and uncompromising scholarship. He co-edited with Barry Gholson a volume on social influences in children's cognition, 'Applications of Cognitive Development Theory.' With Anthony Falcone, he co-authored 'Delivery of Rural Mental Health Services.'

In memoriam: Herbert M. Rosenthal, M.D., 1913-1997

Article Abstract:

Herbert M. Rosenthal, M.D., was a psychoanalyst known for his generosity, patience, and passion in working with patients and friends. He was born in Germany, fled the Nazis during World War II, was briefly imprisoned in Italy, and eventually settled in the US. He trained as a resident in the New York State hospital system and became a member of the faculty of the American Institute for Psychoanalysis.
