Incremental efficacy of WISC-III factor scores in predicting achievement: What doe they tell us?

Article Abstract:

The Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children-Third Edition (WISC-III) is a common psychological measure used for children and adolscents. A study looked at the incremental validity of factor scores from the WISC-III in predicting achievement on the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT). The factors were found to provide a stastically significant increment, and the Full Scale IQ was found to be the best predictor of achievement criteria measured by the WIAT.

Article Abstract:

The structure of the Student Report Inventory and Parent Report Inventory of the College Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Response Evaluation were examined with the help of exploratory factor analyses (EFAs) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs). Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity were the three distinct and reliable dimensions for student reports that were uncovered by EFA and confirmed by CFA.
