Intensity of mobile phone use and health compromising behaviors - how is information and communication technology connected to health-related lifestyle in adolescence?

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted wherein the large scale use of mobile phones is compared with the health compromising behaviors like smoking and alcohol in the age group of 14 to 16 years of age. The results show that the mobile phones are used intensely to a great extent and they have the similar health related lifestyle as that of the health compromising behaviors.

Naturally occurring changes in time spent watching television are inversely related to frequency of physical activity during early adolescence

Article Abstract:

A study examines the relationship between the changes in time spent watching television and playing video games with frequency of leisure-time physical activity across a defined period among adolescent groups. Results encourage the design of interventions that reduce television watching as a possible means of increasing adolescent physical activity.

Parental practices in late adolescence, a comparison of three countries: Canada, France and Italy

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine parental practices, such as affection, control and conflict, in three countries: Canada, France and Italy. Results interpreted in the light of this study report an influence of cultural background on both parental practices and parental decisions in each of these countries.
