Measurement and data analytic issues in couples research

Article Abstract:

The data analytic strategies in couples research are influenced by both conceptual and structural characteristics of measurement. Most of the earlier studies in couples research failed to take into consideration the conceptual or methodological advances. Critiques of nonindependence in couples' data and the techniques for analysis when the predictor variables vary between-couples, within couples or both, can improve couples research.

Predictors of intimacy in couples' discussions of relationship injuries: an observational study

Article Abstract:

A study to examine effects of specific facets of self-disclosure and empathic responding on partner's subjective intimacy in a sample of 102 community couples is conducted. Results show that men's own disclosure and empathic responding predicted their level of intimacy, whereas women's intimacy was predicted by their partner's disclosure and empathic responding.
