Vigilance, active coping, and cardiovascular reactivity during social interaction in young men

Article Abstract:

The effect of active coping and vigilance on blood pressure and heart rate responses to social stressors is discussed. A sample of undergraduate men provided the data, and preparing for and enacting efforts to exert social influence led to heightened blood pressure and heart rate responses.

Mental activation of supportive ties, hostility, and cardiovascular reactivity to laboratory stress in young men and women

Article Abstract:

The internal representations of supportive ties and social interactions could affect mechanisms linking relationships and health. The results indicate that mental activation of supportive ties altered effects of laboratory stress in young men and women and shows positive relationship between supportive ties and health.

Interpersonal responses among sibling dyads tested for BRCA1/BRCA2 gene mutations

Article Abstract:

A comparison of physiological reactions, affect and interpersonal responses between siblings with different combinations of BRCA1/BRCA2 test outcomes is presented. Results showed that mixed pairs reported more anger, noted less friendly general support actions, and regarded their sibling to be more dominant and less friendly. The interpersonal strain between siblings with differen test results is investigated.
