Neighborhood social disorder as a determinant of drug injection behaviors: A structural equation modeling approach

Article Abstract:

A structural equation modeling approach was used for determining the role played by neighborhood social disorder as a determinant of drug injection behavior, which may result in the transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The studies indicate that the psychological distress is higher in more socially disordered neighborhoods and this distress results in a greater injection frequency and equipment sharing, which could result in the transmission of HIV.
