Neutralisation as a process of graduated desensitisation: moral values of offenders

Article Abstract:

Researchers conducted as study to examine neutralization as a process of graduated desensitization. Participants were 95 male offenders who were categorized according to type of offence such as personal or property. Offenders' excuse acceptance and offence approval were examined for 5 offence situations. The results indicated that offenders' excuse acceptance varied as a function of their level of involvement in crime.

Examining the use of the M-Fast with criminal defendants incompetent to stand trial

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the initial validity of the Miller Forensic Assessment of Symptoms Test (M-FAST) in a sample of 50 criminal defendants found incompetent to stand trial, because of a mental illness. The result from the study indicates good evidence of construct and criterion validity of the test.

Exploring the forensic use of the emotional recognition test (ERT)

Article Abstract:

The applicability of the Emotional Recognition Test (ERT) in a sample of 85 Korean inmates in a maximum-security prison is examined. Two additional criterion groups, normal controls and schizophrenic inpatients, included for the comparison scored significantly differently on the ERT total and subscale scores.
