Offspring of women with eating disorders

Article Abstract:

Children of women with eating disorders may be at increased risk of developing eating disorders themselves. A study comparing health and development, body satisfaction, nutritional status, temperament and mealtime interaction patterns in young offspring of women with current or previous eating disorders. Feeding behaviour in women with eating disorders seems to be problematic from pregnancy, leading to factors such as noninteractive mealtimes, which can contribute to the type of environment where a genetic predisposition is most likely to be expressed.
