Practitioner review: outcomes for parents and children following non-traditional conception: what do clinicians need to know?

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that parents with children who are conceived through human reproductive technology enjoy good relationships with them, and that singleton children carried to term do not show signs of cognitive impairment. Implications for further research are identified, including the need for more studies on adolescent and adult reproductive technology subjects.

Children raised in fatherless families from infancy: A follow-up of children of lesbian and single heterosexual mothers at early adolescence

Article Abstract:

Children in fatherless families experienced more interaction with their mother, and perceived her as more available and dependable than their peers from father-present homes. The presence or absence of a father in home from the outset does appear to have some influence on adolescents' relationships with their mothers.

Surrogacy families: Parental functioning, parent-child relationships and children's psychological development at age 2

Article Abstract:

The findings of the second phase of a longitudinal study of families created through surrogacy are presented. Results reveal that surrogacy does not appear to impact negatively on parenting or child development in families with 2-year-old children.
