Preparing for perception and action (I): the role of grouping in the response-cuing paradigm

Article Abstract:

The preparatory methods to attain human skills are reviewed with the help of a Grouping Model, which involves precue information being initiated into a dynamic course of stimulus- and response-set reconfiguration. The Gestalt properties and interresponse dependencies of the Grouping Model aid in shaping and strengthening of stimulus and response subgroups are presented.

Task-switching and long-term priming: role of episodic stimulus-task bindings in task-shift costs

Article Abstract:

Experiments revealing that a large part of task-shift-costs cannot be attributed to a control operation, needed to configure the cognitive system for the upcoming task are presented. In all experiments subject switched between picture-naming and word-reading and different stimuli either in just one of the two tasks, or in both of them are presented.

Developing a new quantitative account of backward masking

Article Abstract:

The fundamental features of masking function generated by a mechanism based on efficient masking are identified, and the manner in which these features can help analyze experimental data in terms of an efficient masking model are projected. This experimental data enhances the development of a new quantitative account of backward masking.
