Rescue behavior in white-faced capuchin monkeys during an intergroup attack: Support for the infanticide avoidance hypothesis

Article Abstract:

The observational evidence of rescue behavior during an intergroup interaction in white-faced capuchin monkeys (Cebus capucinus) is reported. A single interaction was observed in which a victim mother-infant pair was rescued from potential injury or death by the intervention of an adult male from their social group during an intergroup encounter.

Research article: female feeding priority in Bonobos, Pan pansicus, and the question of female dominance

Article Abstract:

A study of feeding priority and female dominance of bonobos in the captive and wild using similar criteria as used for prosimians showed differing results. Bonobos showed evidence of female feeding priority in small food patches but female dominance similar to that seen in prosimians was not observed in these bonobos.

Describing the organization of dominance relationships by dominance-directed tree method

Article Abstract:

The use of set theory and the graph theory concept of directed tree as a more general method for describing dominance organization is presented. The dominance tree analysis method is illustrated by analyzing hypothetical data sets that were devised to mimic the complexities generally found in real data sets.
