Counterbalancing and other uses of repeated-measures Latin-square designs: analyses and interpretations

Article Abstract:

Analytic and interpretative approaches of repeated-measures Latin-square designs should consider both the main effect of Subgroup and the interaction effect between the two Latin-square variables. Generally, the design is used for counterbalancing across a procedural variable, reducing treatment combinations per participant, creating treatment combinations and assessing interventions. In each case, the two levels of interpretation should be compared for their rationale before selecting the right one. While using this design, researchers must consider various problematic assumptions also.

Finding new meanings: children's recognition of interpretive ambiguity in text

Article Abstract:

Younger children are less efficient in recognizing alternative interpretations in text passages than older children. Nevertheless, they are sensitive towards textual ambiguities. The study uses second and fourth grade children to analyze the development of their ability to detect interpretive ambiguity in text. Text structure and genre affect children in both age groups. A second interpretation is more likely to be recognized when the text is in a narrative form.
