Semantic integration and syntactic planning in language production

Article Abstract:

Five experiments, using a subject-verb agreement error elicitation procedure, investigated syntactic planning process in production and it was examined that the influence of sematic integration is the degree to which phrases are tightly linked at the conceptual level. The experiments ruled out the general finding that error rates increase with degree of semantic integration.

Out of one's mind: a study of involuntary semantic memories

Article Abstract:

Involuntary semantic memories are classified as single words and images, devoid of personal meaning and are unrelated to current activities. Studies are conducted to investigate the nature and the occurrence of these involuntary semantic memories and the related theoretical and methodological issues and future avenues of research in this neglected area are outlined. .

Representing the meanings of object and action words: the featural and unitary semantic space hypothesis

Article Abstract:

The Featural and Unitary Semantic Space (FUSS) hypothesis of the meanings of object and action words is presented. The studies reveal that the semantic effects in behavioral experiments for object and action words can be predicted better with this model as compared to other models, such as the Latent Semantic analysis and similarity metrics of Wordnet.
