Social and legal control in China: A comparative perspective

Article Abstract:

The reader is exposed to different social and legal control system and a different way of thinking about crime in China. The human nature and their potential is being thought positively by the Chinese and the China's social control system weaves together a unique combination of formal and informal mechanisms with a strong emphasis on the latter and the criminal justice system constitutes a key element of the social control system.

American social work, corrections and restorative justice: an appraisal

Article Abstract:

American social work has contributed to the field of corrections through the practice of probation, participation in the founding of the juvenile court, and work with inmates in correctional institutions. The study explored social work's presence in corrections, and how the concept of restorative justice can investigate social work within the field of corrections.

Burnout among corrections-based drug treatment staff: impact of individual and organizational factors

Article Abstract:

A study to explore the impact of individual and organizational factors on burnout among a relatively large sample of corrections-based drug treatment staff was conducted. Results show a number of factors related to staff burnout though, lower adaptability, poorer clarity of agency mission, younger age of the counselor and higher stress were very significant.
