Social structure and life-history patterns in western gorillas

Article Abstract:

Data on western gorilla social structure and life histories from four study sites is presented which makes comparisons with eastern gorilla populations. Key questions to be addressed utilizing information from sites representing a wide variety of ecological conditions are discussed to develop a better understanding of the way these conditions shape the social structure and life history pattern of all gorillas.

Genetic variation in gorillas

Article Abstract:

The known concerning genetic variation in gorillas are summarized on both inter-and intra specific levels. An important task for future studies determine the degree of confidence with which the gorilla mitochondrial DNA can be analyzed in view of the risk of artifactual rather than genuine sequences.
