The MMPI-2 Antisocial Practices content scale: construct validity and comparison with the Psychopathic Deviate Scale

Article Abstract:

The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 Antisocial Practices (ASP) content scale shows incremental validity over and above the Psychopathic Deviate Scale (Pd) for psychopathy and antisocial behavior indices. The ASP and Pd scales have similar correlates, but the ASP scale has a more positive association with measures of Machiavellianism than the Pd scale. The ASP correlates more negatively with interview-rated honesty than the Pd scale. The ASP scale shows convergent and discriminative validity with various measures of psychopathy, personality disorders and personality traits.

Clinical assessment of anxiety sensitivity in children and adolescents: where do we go from here?

Article Abstract:

There are few measures of anxiety sensitivity (AS) in children, with the childhood AS literature being restricted to self-report and interview indexes. There are particular problems with relying heavily on self-report measures as validation criteria. Childhood AS literature also shows mono-operation bias. It is important to undertake new research to assess the structural, substantive and external validity of measures of AS in children.

Individual differences science for treatment planning: Personality traits

Article Abstract:

Evolving ethical demands such as informed consent, legal demands and financial demands require planning before behavioral treatment programs can begin. The science of individual differences is a complete branch of psychology, but some psychologists may be unfamiliar with its relevance. The fundamental rule of treatment planning calls for the plan to be based on the best science available.
