The Rorschach Human Experience Variable, interpersonal relatedness, and object representation in nonpatients

Article Abstract:

The accurate Rorschach human representations are dependent on the quality of interpersonal relatedness. W. Perry and D.J. Viglione's concept of the human experience variable (HEV) supports the theory of object representations by predicting the quality of interpersonal relationships beyond the measures of psychopathology. The women nonpatients completed the Bell Object Relations Inventory and the Rorschach while their spouses rated their quality of interrelatedness. Rorschach representations of the self and the other self account for the variance in the quality of interpersonal relationships.

A review of recent research addressing the utility of the Rorschach

Article Abstract:

The Rorschach is an assessment instrument which can be useful in providing information for taking decisions. A sample of 138 research reports published in the 1980s and 1990s has been used to adress the utility of the Rorschach. The test has educational, clinical and forensic applications. It can be used for individualizing interventions and case conceptualizations, and for forecasting outcomes and evaluating them. The Rorschach can shed light on the way that evironmental, biological and psychological factors interact.

Methodological considerations in Rorschach research

Article Abstract:

Research on the Rorschach Inkblot personality assessment test usually parallels other psychometric research but because it is an unstructured instrument, special research measures must be taken. Researchers must be careful in selecting research participants, in the gathering and analysis of data and in the selection of variables. Proper methods can supply hard statistics and substantive results not usually associated with unstructured and abstract psychometrics.
