Males with anorexia nervosa: a controled study of eating disorders in first-degree relatives

Article Abstract:

Research comparing first degree relatives of males suffering from bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa is presented. It is concluded that there is a pattern of familial aggregation comparable to the patterns found in female relatives suffering form eating disorders.

Are there gender differences in core symptoms, temperament, and short-term prospective outcome in anorexia nervosa?

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare symptoms, premorbid personality phenotypes and short-term outcome between males and females with anorexia nervosa. Gender effects were found to be negligible at admission, with the exception of greater weight concern among females and females had greater persistence of symptom morbidity over the 1-year follow up.

The association of anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive personality disorder with anorexia nervosa: evidence from a family study with discussion of nosological and neurodevelopmental implications

Article Abstract:

A case-control family study design is employed to investigate the association of anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive personality disorder with anorexia nervosa (AN). The results show that AN has a nosological relation with anxiety and becomes more vulnerable with it.
