Reporting recollective experiences: direct access to memory systems?

Article Abstract:

Judgmental techniques that do not require a memorial presentation of the known stimulus are more likely to affect know responses than remember responses. This was gleaned from the results of two recognition experiments wherein the response criteria were either explicitly or implicitly manipulated. Know responses indicate the use of implicit memory while remember responses suggest the use of episodic memory.

See the Ball, Hit the Ball: Apparent Ball Size Is Correlated With Batting Average

Article Abstract:

Research shows that baseball players who are hitting well see the ball as being larger, and see it as being smaller when they are hitting poorly. Findings are unclear as to whether this is a change in memory or a change in perception.
